
Rita Cortese
Biography
Adela Rita Cortese (born August 5, 1949, in Buenos Aires) is a renowned Argentine actress and singer. Her career spans across films, series, and telenovelas, earning her three Martín Fierro Awards as well as a Silver Condor Award. In 1967, she began studying Philosophy and Letters but dropped out a year later. In 1974, she entered the theater school directed by Néstor Raimondi, although, according to her own statements, she started her professional career in 1972 at the Teatro Latino in San Telmo. As a film actress, she worked in La nube, and in 2003, she received the Silver Condor Award for Best Actress for Herencia. As a television actress, she received a Martín Fierro Award in 2002 for her performance in the telenovela El sodero de mi vida and another in 2008 for her special appearance in the sitcom Lalola. That same year, she released her first album titled El amor, ese loco berretín, in which she performs various tango ballads; the album won her the Carlos Gardel Award for Best New Tango Artist in 2009. In 2014, she was one of the stars of the hit film Relatos salvajes (Wild Tales), which was nominated for the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival and for an Oscar.
